The Toronto book launch for Gods, Memes and Monsters, which contains Ann's description of Subterrs, the subway monsters, was on Sunday, June 26 at 7:00 PM at the Victory Cafe in Mirvish Village. The bestiary is $20 there (signed!) or you can order it from Indigo or Amazon. Subterr movement accounts for as much as 80% of sudden stops and slow-downs of underground trains. Those who are at the front of the train and look carefully might see the faint light of their eyes.
Ann also had a monstrous short story published in 2013. "Ogre Baby" is in Issue 7 of Here Be Monsters: Tongues and Teeth. You can read an excerpt from "Ogre Baby", Ann's story, online in the Here Be Monsters blog. Warning: Gory horror violence.
Ann's original fable "The Cat and the Cell Phone" was published in 2013 in a wonderful collection of modern fables called The Lion and the Aardvark. The book was originally published in the U.K but Ann met all the Toronto authors at a local book launch and reading in May 2013.
2010: Firedrake is on the reading list for the second year in a Children's Literature course taught by Professor Hilary Turner at the University College of the Fraser Valley in B.C. The university flew Ann out there in January to do two readings, one at the university in Abbotsford and the other at the Arts Council in Mission.
Ann had never been west of Ontario before, so it was a wonderful experience!
